    Colt Quality customer service

I purchased my Colt 1911 about 4 months ago, and it was having feeding issues. Thanks to some "real deal" 1911 guys here on the forum, it was narrowed down to a mag issue. I purchased some Wilson 47Ds which solved the problem.

I finally got around to sending them back. I was contacted a week later by a CS rep who inquired about the issue. 3 days later I recieved a Colt hat in the mail with a note telling me they were looking at the problem.
2 days later I recieved a call from the same rep explaining that they were having an issue with the 7 round mags, and would it be ok if they sent me 8 round mags.

Of course I said yes. A few days later I recieved three 8 round mags in the mail, with a letter telling me the third was for my trouble.

Colt reps are very good and stay on top of the problem.

I recommend Colt to anyone tired of the run around by other manufactures.

Thank you, Gman. I'm in between on the idea of new Colt Government Model and used Series 70 or earlier Colt Government Model.

I've had a Colt 1911 of one kind or another for longer than I can remember with the "latest" being a nickle-plated Series-70 Gold Cup National Match model I bought new back then. Super accurate, and doing a crown and mirror-polish job on the barrel's feed ramp makes it load almost any type round like hot butter. First thing I found was that aftermarket magazines (regardless of price) could cause major feeding issues while other brands worked flawlessly - then, also recently bumped into a newer Colt 7-round magazine that also had a feeding problem that had me wondering for a minute.

Thanks for the heads-up, and I'm already drooling at perhaps getting a couple of 8-round mags too

With your old boss in charge now, Colt has made a complete turn around in almost every facet of their business. Unfortunately, people have realized to that their custom shop does great work at a reasonable cost and have them swamped. I sent two GMs to them for some minor work a couple months ago, one was quoted as returning in January, the other (which was sent back about a month later, I quess) in March.

I told ya they'd take care of you.

First you need to determine if it's actually made by one of Colt's contractors, or if it's one of the myriad of counterfeit Colt magazines floating around, such as the junk sold by Sportsman's Guide.

Colt CS is excellent in my experience. They did a great job with the recall of my New Agent two years ago.

I sent it to Colt and it was back in a week. GTG.

I called them this morning to get an owners manual for my SAA (which got lost in a move). The young lady I spoke to was friendly, professional and efficient.

She said they'd mail one out today, free of charge.

I have had the exact same experience. I actually got to know them from doing custom work and got to know the master gun smith. They do great work and I am so please with the checkering and trigger job. You can't beat the price either.

After 15 years of use my Colt Det/Spl developed a small timing glitch. I called Colt first and sent them the pistol.

    Results:
Just like the day I brought it home N.I.B. from Colt, timed like a swiss watch with a trigger as smooth as silk.
    No Charge..

    Thank You Colt.

This is one I had Colt massage several years ago, I wanted an "old school" shooter built using the older recomendations Col. Cooper thought a pistol would benifit from.

In the book; The Modern Technique of the Pistol by Greg Morrison and Col. Cooper, there is a chapter (XVII) describing the old Gunsite-recommended pistol modifications.
