I didn't get an urgent call, but on one occasion I showed up to pick up a gun and learned that my drivers license had expired. I am always on top of these things, so it was quite a surprise to me. So, I dashed out, got it renewed, and went back to do the deal. Felt pretty stupid...duh.

Just for future reference, the make/model/serial from the gun would've been on your yellow sheet when you went through the NICS check. They would have "delayed" or "denied" you outright and LE would've picked up the gun from the shop. There is also the possibility that it could have been reported stolen later and in that case the NICS people would've received a "delayed hit" on the gun, talked to the gun shop and LE would've talked to you directly. ;O)
