Am I making a smart trade?

    Howdy

    Background:

I recently bought a NIB Glock 26. After shooting my friends 19 and 26 I figured I would get a 26 and add extensions. Well it turns out, even after adding Pearce extensions, this thing is too damn small for me.

    Question:

I recently ran into a guy at the local fun shop who said he would love to trade his 19 (with Triji's) for my 26 (standard sights). Keeping in mind his 19 has about 2000 rounds through it, about 200 of which were +p Spear's. Is this a smart trade??

Glocks hold their value very well, 2000 rounds is nothing for these guns. Plus the 19 has Trijicons, I say go for it if you want a G19.

With what you say, I'd trade...

Yeah, for that I'd trade. If it were a major step down or he wanted a huge chunk more for it, I'd suggest looking at grip extensions (eg x-grips), but for that swap, I'd be tempted even if you liked the 26 knowing you could get another later.

    I think that's a good trade.

2000 rounds to a Glock is merely insuring the gun was assembled with no more than 3 missing parts, and no parts in the gun at this time were made of cardboard.

Jump on that like a junkie on heroin.

Glocks will last, one of my co-workers has a VERY old glock with over 20,000 rounds through it, many were reloads and were made HOT and he has yet to replace any parts on it. It will be just fine! Plus can't beat the sights he is giving away with it.

Your question was, "is it a smart trade", I would say no. But, whether it's cars, guns, or whatever, we've all bought something we regretted, and have to pay a price for that mistake. My guess is that you're probably taking about a $100 hickey. But, if you are happy, then get the gun you want.

Remember, you have a NEW gun--in the box. He's wanting to trade you a USED gun. Remember, we are talking Glocks here, not Colts. I wouldn't be worried at all about whether his gun is "ok", Glocks are known for being able to "take it".

Look at the trade from his perspective--he's trading "up" to a new gun straight across. I'd at least attempt to get him to throw in a couple or three boxes of ammo to at least split the difference with you a little--then I'd trade. I'd allow for about 25% of new price for the sights==the gun is how old? The Glock 19 is a great pistol.

It really boils down to value, which in this case is a subjective thing.
If in your eyes that 19 and your 26 are of equal value, trade him.
