I carry a Springfield Armory 1911, which is single action.

Or sometimes a Glock 36, which is striker fired.

Or I have a Sig 220 I would be comfortable carrying, which is DA/SA

Mostly a 1911 of 4" (Kimber CDP Pro) or 5'" (Springfield) persuasion, but occasionally a Sig 220.

HK45 (converted for SA primary usage), or 1911s in .45, of course SAO.

Springfield Loaded 1911 .45 on duty.
Clark Custom Meltdown Colt Compact 1991A1 off duty.

Being 1911s, they're both single action.

I've been experimenting with various .45s. I had a 1911 (SA), Glock 30 (striker), and PT845 (DA/SA hammer fired) and sold all of them and now have a Glock 36. I like it better for carry than my previous three, but I'm still working on proficiency with it at this point and am not yet carrying it until I get a chance to put several hundred rounds through it.

When I do carry a .45 it's my 24/7 Pro- DA/SA. I don't like DAO. As soon as i can afford it, I'll be getting a 1911 which is- of course- SA.

I carry a Sig P220 Elite Carry. It is in essence a P229 in .45, the "carry" designation on it means it is a tad more compact than the standard P220. It is SA/DA. It fits nice and tight on my hip with out printing much when I conceal it, and it looks great when I open carry it, strong lines and a distinct beaver tail. A little pricey, but well worth it for the value and quality construction on it.

    .

The Glock 30 is a great option if you're looking for a double stack .45. Yes, it's a little bit than the G36 and a bit heavier that some others, but a good belt and a Crossbreed supertuck keep it nice and snug.
