The Diamondback DB9 is the smallest and lightest right now at 11ounces, but it will be punishing when shooting for most people and does not like to be limp wristed. I actually like mine and shoot it very well. Next step up will be the others that roadrat has listed. I hope that helps. God Bless

I vote for the Ruger LC9. I carry mine in a pocket holster in the front pocket of my blue jeans. It has a fairly long trigger pull as it is double action only, and the recoil is noticeable but not unpleasant.

Find a way to try them all and carry the one you like the best.

Have been very happy with LC9. Tex is not kidding when he says it has a long pull - for this type of gun I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

Don't forget the BP9. It's worth a look if you can find one.

Does anyone know whether or not the Sig 290 comes with one mag or two?

    Thanks

LC9 is not the smallest but mine has been completely reliable.

The DB9 is probably the smallest and lightest but reliablity issues may be a factor.

Any of the small 9's are going to be snappier to shoot than a full sized. When you have less weight in the gun to soak up the recoil that is simply the nature of the beast.

My PF9 is not too uncomfortable to shoot. I can put a couple hundred target loads through it when at the range without any issues or ill effects. It is snappy, but when the gun only weighs 12 oz or so, that is what you get.

Reliability should be the first priority when looking a the small sized gun. Seems the smaller you go the more issues that pop up.

Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

LC9 is a good gun, but the long trigger pull with the resulting (for me) difficulty of keeping it on target, caused me to trade it in for a G26. other than that feature, not a bad choice.
