I gave up both FMJs and HPs after I developed and handloaded miniaturized thermo-nuclear grenades. It's no longer a matter of hitting what I aim at; just a matter of getting close to what I aim at.

Load your mags with something off this list:

Just about every point can be argued the other direction.
If more rounds miss then hit in a shootout should over penetration be a concern or should the missed rounds hitting someone?
If you mix rounds in the mag which ones are going to hit and which are going to miss?

I've never understood alternating HPs and FMJ ammo. Only because if HPs fail to expand, isn't like a FMJ round?

I load mine from the top. It's easier that way. :)

All quality factory SD JHP ammo. Golden Sabers in most of mine, but looking at the Federal HST line as a possible brand to use.

    My 9mm defensive load is Ranger-T 127 +P
The .45 is loaded with Federal HST 230.

I see no need to alternate fmj and jhp - particularly in 9mm where over penetration is well documented.

All JHP's. Firing FMJ's is not smart. Exactly because the DO penetrate. Seeing as you won't be firing a single shot if you do have to fire, it makes it kind of pointless.

Put it this way, how many cops do you know who stagger their rounds?
