    Cool 1977 S&W Model 15-4....

It seems the older I get the more I tend to lean towards the guns I grew up with.

I was in a pawn shop yesterday and saw a Nickle Model 15-4 Combat Masterpiece in really nice condition.

I found it to be tight with good lockup and excellent bore. Worked out a deal and brought her home.

Checking the serial number showed her to be a 1977.

Classic good looks for "Old School" charm.

She cleaned up well and now it's time to get her to the range.

Here's a photo taken under artificial light last night. She looks better in natural light with no glare.

The model 15 was the handgun we were issued in the USAF Security Police,I carried one from 76-78,I wonder where they all went when the services switched to M9's,Everytime I see one I come pretty close to hitting the bid button

    Cool

Money is tight for lots of folks right now and in my area of the country if you are willing to look around and pay "cash" there are good deals to be found.

Here is her photo under natural light. I think it shows her off better.

Great little bargain there and the nickel is a little less commonly seen.

Smith & Wesson Model 15s are a treat to shoot at the range, make good belt guns for the field, are fine home defense handguns, and are a reasonable choice for concealed carry with a good holster. It's a proper home for a cartridge like the .38 Special rather than the tiny snubs that are now popular.

Nice find. The only thing that comes close to matching a 1911 for class is a classic wheel gun.

I love my Model 15-4. Of course my wife commandeered and is deadly with it so I'm still happy.
