So I will assume the 'combat' involved is the personal conflict between a rather ordinary man and the forces of chaos and evil rampant in our society.

    1. Heckler and Koch USP40c. After a long time of study, this is the pistol that fits my hand best, is easiest to conceal and yet delivers a forceful and accurate blow when needed.

    2. Smith & Wesson model 19 - 2.5 in barrel version; the old type with the pinned barrel. Alternately, the four inch version works well, as does the model 13; the same revolver with fixed sights. It fits me well also, hides well and still delivers the forceful and accurate blow.

    3. Colt (Lightweight) Commander in .45 ACP. Alternately, the Colt Government Model in .45 ACP. What is commonly referred to in the military designation of "1911".

    4. Several of the Smith & Wesson "N" frame revolvers, preferably with fixed sights, although I have been known to carry a four inch M29. Included are the "1917" .45 ACP/AR revolver and the various .44 Special revolvers made over the years. Again, the old type with pinned barrels.

    5. When I'm in a whimsical mood, the S&W model 39. It's the smallest caliber gun I carry seriously, but it handles so well and quickly. Not to mention it has more class than a lot of others.
This would be a great combat pistol list in 1965!

Smith and Wesson Governer ( shoots 45 acp,45 gap,45 long colt or 410 shot gun slugs or shot)

    Sig P220, Springfield XD/XDM .45, Glock 21, Glock 17, FN 5.7

(Assuming that "combat" means not concealed, action ready. None of these would serve as my EDC)

Not at all, they are reliable, very fast for follow-up shots and very accurate at combat distances. If they made 45ACP with moon clips that would be better. They are introducing a 40 S&W and a 9mm Rhino at the SHOT show.

If you have not shot one you have no idea just how good this gun is I think it has many positive aspects. One of which it is easy to conceal and recoil is greatly reduced over a standard revolver.

The H&K wasn't made in 1965. The rest of them are still very functional.

Your list strikes me as functional. But I have to ask, why does Walther make a designated barbeque gun?
