Star PD 45acp.
Hey fellows, As I posted a couple of weeks ago or maybe it has been longer than that. I was missing not having a Star PD in my carry rotation. I had one in the 80's and it was such a nice carry gun. Well I found a nice one for $350 at a LGS. It had rubber pachmeyer grips which I don't like on my carry guns so I got some nice wooden grips made by Eagle from the 80's for it. I hope to pick it up this weekend or next Thursday ( I am still waiting for the state to clear me) . Any of you guys or gals have a love for the Star PD? I will post pics asap.

The Star pistols were easily the best of the Spanish pistols---Star PDs (in 45 ACP) were popular carry guns back in the 80s and 90s---not much choice in those days---The Star BM and BKM were smaller 9mms that also got carried a lot.

I had one for many years in the Starvel finish. One of my bud's has a blued one. I think it was probably the perfect size for carry.

I wish that I still had mine. Nice compact carry firearm. Mine always went bang.

I owned two of the STAR Firestar series handguns. An M-43, single stack SAO 9mm and it's larger brother, Firestar 30MI, DA/SA 15-1, 9mm.
Both were forged steel frame, heavy as a brick and built like a tank. Accurate and dependable and if STAR was still in business, I would have kept them.
I get a sad feeling when I'm reminded that STAR went out of business years ago and Taurus continues to make mediocre quality handguns.

My dad had one? Bad spring or something made it shoot full auto. Eye opening. He traded it fast.

Nice looking pistol. Congrats.

NICE !!! I've had a couple of them in my past. One in blue and one in Starvel finish. Both were great carry/ shooters and primary carry guns for sure. There's a buffer inside the recoil spring system that needs to be replaced in a timely manner. You can tell when it's getting worn, as you'll start to experience a couple ftf issues. ALWAYS a good idea to keep these little washers in your cookie jar parts. If you come up to the store (KTP) I think I may be able put my hands on a couple of spare mags that might be floating around in the spare mag bins/drawers. Send me a PM and I'll give you my hours that I am there.
Again, you got a great little carry gun that will serve you well for years to come

I heard you can get new buffers for it here; Jack First Gunshop - First in Gun Parts - Rapid City, South Dakota

I have a soft spot for Star and also Astra. Have a Star BM 9mm around here and a little Astra .25.
I like the look of your new pistole. It's a .45 which is always appropriate. It's made out of real steel. It's compact and handy. I'd own it.
Good price too!
