Duracoat Holster Wear?
So, my EDC gun is a well-carried Glock and the slide is starting to show normal holster wear. I have been wanting to have the slide refinished for a long time with a stainless finish for a two-tone effect.
I have almost decided to try Duracoat, and I understand it wears pretty well, but my question is, how about every-day holster and carry wear? Any long term users with experience in this? If the new finish wears easily, it doesn't seem worth the trouble.
Any advice is highly appreciated!

Are you looking to coat the Glock for cosmetic reasons? If so, Cerakote is a much more durable finish than Duracoat.
If you're worried about rust, etc. on your Glock, don't. It has a tenifer treated. What you're seeing wear is the black Parkerized finish or one of their newer black finishes.

From my research cerikote and duricoat both have similar wear. Unless you plan on doing the bake on cerikote. Regardless no coating is going to last forever so plan on doing it more than once.

My reason is mostly cosmetic, and I like the two-tone look. I have also seen polishing services where the Parkerizing is removed completely. Not sure that's a good idea though.

Industrial Hard Chrome, Titanium Nitride, or Electroless Nickel do not show holster wear.
I think pretty much everything else will eventually show some normal holster wear.

I had a pair of SA XD45's that were both showing holster wear. I refinished both with clear duracoat, after stripping the finish, and gave them a 2 toned look. After less than a year, there was noticeable holster wear again, even with the duracoat. If you are gonna carry the gun, it is going to show holster wear.

not sure of the prices, but you can get your own EXO Glock by sending your slide to these guys. Nickel Boron is a bad ass finish.

I think Duracoat is out. I'm probably going with hard chrome from Rock Your Glock. At $75 bucks it seems like a good deal, and I haven't seen anything but good reviews.

nope. Not paying that for just the slide and the barrel. I can get an entire pistol hard chromed for $200.
