Is a pocket carry .40 caliber an oxymoron?

Anybody got any good suggestions for a pocket carry .40 caliber? Would be wearing "dress" style pants or carpenter jeans with a tucked-in shirt and no jacket or sweater.

The PM40 from Kahr is the only thing that comes to mind.

You're going to need large pockets to fit a PM9 or PM40. I know that my PM9's grip sticks out of a good portion of my dress pants, so it's not really an option for me.

oxymoron unless you're talking about cargo pants. Anything like jeans, etc you're talking a 380 such as the LCP in my opinion.

My Kahr PM40 carried well in a pocket. Too bad it never went bang when it needed to. It belongs to someone else now.

I can honestly saw I've never seen a more universally disliked holster on this forum. Somewhere there is one thread where this holster is a star, and that's the "What holsters DON'T you recommend" thread.

    And yes....I owned one.

Beretta is suppose to come out with a .40S&W version of their Nano in the next few months, however as other's have mentioned, the Kahr CM/PM40 is a great gun. Just a tiny bit larger is the Taurus PT740 and the Walther PPS with the flush magazine. God Bless

Same with me. However, I have taken some pants to a tailor to have the pockets deeped an inch or so, and squared off at the bottom.

That takes care of the "grip peeking out of the pocket opening" issue. However, there is still the weight of the pistol - a PM9/CM9 or PM40 weighs a good deal more than a .380, and for some that can become a comfort issue.

I've fired a PM40, and found it to be borderline uncontrollable in rapid fire, especially with one hand. In this size/weight of pistol, I would stick with a 9mm. Plus, you get an extra round in the mag.

Taurus PT740 is a good compact 40 cal. I've not seen a single issue posted with them. I've shot my buddy's a lot and I love it. Very tempted to trade my 709 for one.
