New carry gun
I want to get a new 9mm compact gun for carrying. I had my sights on a M&P9mmc, but most places are out around here, and i'm hearing with the new version coming out, that 9mm will be hard to come by due to overseas orders. My local store admitted it will be a while before they get some more in. So I started thinking walther P99 compact. Sadly they don't have a .45 version, which is why this gun wasn't initially on my radar. I wanted to identical platforms for 9mm and .45.
What are peoples' opinions on the walther p99? good gun? good trigger? how does it compare to the M&P in performance?
thanks for any help
Can't you contact other GS's that you could drive to, and buy iy ythere?

Part of why I was looking into my local place was financing, instead of shelling out all the cash at once, I finance it there usually, 3 months no interest, and pay it off in the 3 months. That way I get it into my hands with minimal out of pocket, and I get it quick rather than waiting and saving. I have looked at a couple of other shops within an hour, no luck, I am still going to try some shops I know of about an hour away, but I wanted to hear about the p99 in the mean time
oh, and not saying that I won't get an M&P, but I might wait a while and see how the new trigger turns out
I know Bud's guns (link above) has a 90 day layaway program. Free shipping too. Just have to ship it to an ffl and pay transfer cost (usually around $20).
Check out the Springfield XD line. Their 9mm compact is a great ccw size.

What new trigger? If you want a good trigger just send it to Apex.
I would also suggest not financing a gun but saving until you can buy it outright.
oh haven't you heard, S&W is redesigning their M&P trigger.
I wish I could have gotten some advice on the p99 like I asked
Welcome to the forum.
Do a search on Walther P99, you'll find a ton of post to sort through.
Glock 19. There is a reason they are so popular.
The choice has to be yours what feels good in your hands etc. Most Local Gun SHops will let you do a 90 day lay away to me that is far more responsible than using a credit card and spending money you do not have on a credit card. Good luck with your journey.
Not in particuler order what I have expiereance with and like.
And the list goes on.
I'm glad to hear S&W is working on the M&P trigger, because it is horrible. I tried a few at a hunting expo and the reset was almost non-existent. The Walther PPQ on the other hand, has a superb trigger.
Then there is the G19 and 26. One a little bigger and one a little smaller than the M&P9c. I have both and carry them frequently. I love the Glock trigger, with practice, it is an awesome trigger.
Take a good look at the Ruger SR9C often over looked gem of a weapon.
Have you checked out the Kahr PM9? I've owned one since 2006. I highly recommend them.
