Jeez! You guys are making me sick, over the DS and the Cobra that I bought (new) for peanuts in the '70's, and foolishly let get away! Now I'm gonna have to try & explain to Mama why I've GOT to shell out some big bucks for some used, 40-something-year-old .38 snub when I've got plenty of bigger/better/newer handguns!

    She's not gonna understand...

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards,
    Jim

I've got that same gun in nickle and it's a classic. Keep it. My only knock on it is that since it's been out of circulation so long it's hard to find decent aftermarket grips for it. The Pachs are just too big in my opinion. I tried Eagle Secret Service grips and they look nice, but you will have to be experienced in woodworking and refinishing to make them work with a speedloader. The factory grips are nice and sleek, but tend to roll out of your hand while firing. Nice purchase.

I took the DS snubbie out to the range today. I shot about 2/3 of a box of 158 gr roundnose thru it. Functioned great and I was able to hold a group of about 3" from 21'. As some have warned me, it did appear to be shooting high with this particular load. Unfortunately I did not have anything else to shoot. The recoil with the Pachs was managable, but I want to try it with the wood grips as well. I used to have one with the stock wood grips on it and I don't recall the recoil being as bad as today. It could be the ammo I guess. I don't remember what ammo I used in the other one. Overall I was pleased with the Colt. I even carried it around some in a IWB today and was pretty comfortable with it. Besides its pretty!
