Should I trade my G23 for my buddy's G19?
My EDC is a Gen 3 Glock 23 .40 cal. compact.
My friend has a Gen 3 Glock 19 9mm compact and has expressed interest in doing a trade.
I know that many people consider the G19 to be the ideal CCW gun. I like the idea of less recoil under rapid fire for maintaining accuracy under stress. The slight additional capacity (13+1 vs 15+1) doesn't hurt either.
I'd like to get some opinions here to help me decide if I should make the trade.
Thanks!

Yeah, I'd trade...unless you can afford both!

I would buy it outright, rather than trade, but that's just me...
You can always get a 9mm barrel for your 23 if you want to shoot the slightly cheaper 9mm.

I can't afford both at the moment.
The G23 has a pretty snappy recoil, but is certainly shootable. The difference in ammo price is negligible.
Recoil and capacity are what have my eye.

I would either trade or buy one outright.
Kahr makes the ideal concealed carry gun however. :)
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.

Only if you want a 9mm other than a 40 S&W. You can answer your own question. If ur unsure it's not time to trade.
Some people will start trouble and then try to make it look like its your fault....

the 19 shoots so nice... It was a toss up to go with the XDM Compact 9mm 3.8 or the Glock 19... I'd trade for the 19...

The recoil and split times between the popular calibers in semi autos are largely exaggerated, IMO.
If you want a 9 rather than a 40, then that's good enough reason to trade.
But if you want better pistol skills, it's in the training, not the hardware.

If recoil and manageable follow up shots under stress are issues and you feel you can do better with the G19 in 9mm-go for it. The Gen 3 G19 is rock solid.

for 99.00 you can buy a stainless 9mm barrel made by lonewolf from cheaper than dirt, for your g23 then get a couple of magazine's for the 9mm and have the best of both worlds... I bought some blue glock floorplates for the 9mm so the magazines are easily distiguishable ...You can also get a .357 mag and some orange floorplates...lol the 9mm barrel is great and accurate...
I would rather live my life as if there is a God,
And die to find out there isn't, than live my life
As if there isn't, and die to find out there is.
