Hi everyone. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on the 40s&w vs the 9mm. Which one you prefer to carry and why. I carry a 40 because I like the extra knock down power vs the 9mm and just like the way that a 40 feels when fired. I love the 9mm and have a T series Browning Hi Power and have always loved it, but I think that with the extra knock down power with only having to give up a couple rounds if any make the 40 a better choice for me.
If it goes bang I like it. I like9, 40, 38,357, and anything else I can shoot.:danceban: I get tired of my caliber is better. My wifes px4 is 9mm my p229 is 40. We both have guns in .357. I love them all. Shoot whatever you want. I personally want to eventually get a 45. That way I can straddle the fence even more.:embarassed:
I had a hard time in deciding which caliber to pick up in my Shield. I didn't really make the final decision until I had them both in front of me. I ended up going 9 because I was down one 9 in my collection.
I carry 9 mm but was impressed with the .40 when recently introduced to it at a local range about 2 weeks ago.
I don't know about knock down power one way or another. If someone shoots me and hits me I'll probably make doo doo in my pants, throw myself on the ground and shoot from a prone position. It won't take the caliber to put me on the ground. Just keepin it real.
9mm for me. 2 reasons: 1) capacity in every platform I use...I get more rounds to fire at BG. 2) from what I've read from the experts...9mm technology has come along way and has as much stopping power as .40. That's my simple two cents.
I have 9 pistol calibers from .22lr to 44mag. Usually I carry .38 spl, .357 sig, .357 mag, 9mm, or .40 s&w. Whatever is called in clothing, destination, or company I'm keeping. I shoot all on an 8" pieplate at 25'. I am satisfied I can carry the day if need be.
The "State of the Art" of ammunition has not appreciably changed in the last 18 months. Closed. We've had enough caliber threads. :lolp:
