Range Report - Sig 1911 Ultra

Well, I finally got to the range with my new Sig Ultra 1911. I have to say that I was very pleased. I did clean and lube the gun prior to this trip. I put 250 rounds of Winchester White box through it and didn't have a single FTF, FTE, or any other malfunction. I then put 50 rounds of various premium hollow points through it, again, no failures.

Accuracy and shooting comfort were more than acceptable.

If your looking for a small 1911 in 45ACP, don't overlook this pistol. Another trip or two and if it performs as it did yesterday, it will replace my Kimber CDP Pro as my CCW.

good to hear it was reliable out of the box--as per the instructions few take the time to read.

did the 25LPI front strap chew up your hand at all?

The grip was very comfortable. I have somewhat small hands and since I'm retired, I have lost any calluses I might have had on my hands. The front strap offered the non-slip grip I wanted without the discomfort some of my other guns have. By the way, I had no trouble with the shorter grip, it just felt very good in my hand. Recoil felt much softer than it usually does with any of my J-Frames.

Photos....we need photos....that is a great looking gun...it is on my short list.

You know what the gun looks like. Here my first 25 shots at 25 yards. No comments about my accuracy, I'm an old man...

Glad you like the Sig. I have a 1911 C3 that I love and is my EDC. FWIW I have not heard MANY complaints about issues with the Sig Sauer line of 1911 pistols (or clones as some call them).

Never been much into Sig 1911's, but this one looks a lot like the Springfield EMP

I'm going to take a wild guess that you put the trigger in the joint of your finger and not on the pad.

Ps... you're a better shot than I am... and mine have that same pattern only at 15 yards. :)

Been out of town and then sick for a week so I haven't been able to get my new Ultra too the range. Hope it runs as good as yours did.

You know, that's certainly a possibility. I'll pay attention next week whenI go out again.

Well considering the red on that target is only 2" that's some good shooting. :>). I really have interest in adding one of these to my stable. Nice report thanks.

I just saw that gun last Thursday at the gun store. It looks and feel awesome. Glad to hear it is reliable, since it is in my short list, or maybe at the top of it.

What kind of velocity can we expect out of a short barrel .45 like that one?
