My new baby got some mods

Picked up my new Glock 27 last week. Today I took it to my buddy (who's also one of our CLEET instructors and a Glock Armor) for some modifications he recommended. It had an extended slide release, extended mag release and 3.5lbs trigger installed. It's got a G23 mag with X grip and is riding in a Galco Royal Guard IWB. Its also got Decal grip. This is my first Glock and I love it!

Looks good. What did all that run you in mods?

OK, I'll ask...if you are going to carry it with a G23 mag in it, why didn't you just get a G23?

How "extended" is the mag release? I installed Vicker's on my G26 and G19 - just a hair longer, but not so much that you worry about accidental mag dumps.

I'm also not a fan of lighter triggers on a carry gun - I leave mine stock.

I never use the slide release to chamber a round - I prefer the overhand method.

Just curious as to your thought process - or if you were just going on this buddy's recommendations.

In any case, it's a great pistol - enjoy!

The number of people killed because they didn't have "enough gun" is dwarfed by those who had none at all. Get a gun you will always carry, and add more capability as you grow.

I was going to ask the same question.

Only reason I carry my G27 instead of my G23 is because if I drive my car instead of ny truck.....the car has sport seats & I don't want to rub the side bolsters with the grip....shorter grip prevents this.

I like the X grip. Two questions. 1.) Did he also recommend tritium sights? 2.)Do you still carry the Sig in your avatar pic?

    My thoughts were
    1. The mag release is slightly longer but doesn't interfere with grip. It's easier to access for me.
    2. The slide release. Although I seldom use it is a personal addition I like. It's nice to have options.
    3. In my former life I was a LEO and still do reserve for the department. So I'm use to having night sites ( these are stock Glock night sites). I'm also use to a lighter trigger and am able to control shot placement better with a lighter trigger. Granted this is debatable with a carry weapon. But I'm use to carrying. I didn't have the block installed, that alot of our LEOs have been installing, which removes the travel before break in the trigger.
    4. As for the decal grip. I've experience polymer frames when my hands are slick. The grips add just enough texture for good retention.
    5. I don't carry with the G23 mag. I use the flush mag.
    6. I will carry the P238 as a BUG occasionally. Or if I have a quick errand, etc.

    Ah. Gotcha.

I'd remove the sleeve on the mag. If you have meaty hands, you can get pinched when you slam a mag home.

I've shot G19 mags in my G26 without any issues, sans any sleeves. Plus, the bare mag is easier to carry - less bulk.

But hey - that's JMHO. And you know what they say about opinions...

only things I mod on the subcompact Glocks: Trijicon Night Sights and Factory mags with grip extension.

    and they work.

Night sights are the only thing I change on a stock Glock...to each his own!
I do hope your changes (which are really minor) work well for you.
