This is a discussion on Kimber Pro Carry 2 (325 flawless rounds so far) within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; So I have been buying 1911's like no tomorrow. But I always stayed on the cheaper end of the pool (to me that's $600 or ...
So I have been buying 1911's like no tomorrow. But I always stayed on the cheaper end of the pool (to me that's $600 or less). Then I decided to go to what I thought was a more "premium" brand and bought a Kimber Pro Carry 2 for about $750. I know a lot of threads on the net have them listed as problematic and unreliable, but mine has been perfect from day 1.
Today I put another 100 rounds through her, including 50 rounds of Tulammo (cheap crap). Not one jam, not one issue. I am shooting them out of the Kimber factory 7 round mag and a used fake Colt 8 rounder I bought used. This thing is a sewing machine. No matter how fast you shoot, it just goes bang. And the accuracy, well, see for yourself. The below is 35 rounds at 7 yards. I was shooting about as fast as a normal person would count 1-2-3-4 etc. A couple mags faster than that. I am PLEASED!
The only change planned is a Kimber solid trigger with no holes. I just don't think big holes are a good idea on a carry weapon. Big if, but what "IF" something got in there, the gun might not go bang. So anyways, I hope this helps someone decide on Kimber. Great gun and the only 1911 I have had thus far without a single issue.

Reason: changed mag to "fake"

Glad you're happy with your gun and it's working out for you, just as an FYI, be very, very careful with "used Colt mags", there's a ton of counterfeit magazines and while it may just be an issue with terminology, I doubt very, very much that you have a used "Military" magazine, or at least a Military mag that wasn't doinked around with.
Okay fine, my fake Colt mag. I'm not too worried about the nomenclature, all I know is it works as flawlessly as the Kimber factory mag. And for a gun that is said to be "unreliable" and a lot of people say Kimber factory mags are crap, the gun is perfect to this point with BOTH mags. No reason to believe the next 325 rounds won't be as perfect as the first.

Either way I edited my OP to reflect my fake mag.
....Look at the pictures again. Those are not the same. That looks to be a Okay Ind. made magazine, in which case it's a good mag, but still doesn't make it a "Military" magazine.

Interesting. I guess it is a "better made fake" then? Oh well, as I said, it holds 8 rounds and works so that is what makes me happy.
And I forgot the obligatory gun porn.....factory and unmolested save for the checkering thingy from Wilson Combat.

Colt doesn't make their own mags, they are subcontracted by different vendors. The markings on the bottom of the mag show who made the mag. Generally, if they have the Pony, they're good to go.
