new addition to the family, new grips on another

So after firing the CDP Pro in .40 (thanks SKSMATT) I fell in love with the checkering, and the smooth lines, the wonderful crisp single action trigger, and the overall appearance of the gun that I set out to replace my EDC a Para CCW LDA, with a compact CDP in .45.

With only a day of looking in at the third shop I found my desire. A lightly used Compact CDP in .45 and a series 1 to boot. It took some "discussion" with the wife(I WANT to live with her the rest of my life, therefore I have to "ask" otherwise she'll make my life a living hell) and came home minus 1 Para and plus another Kimber. Range day tomorrow and I know it will be good to go.

Also, I never took new pictures of the VZ blasted black canvas 320s that I put on the Pro, between them and the checkering it's like having the pistol glued to my hand...

Now I just got to get some more VZs for the compact.

Nice - nice ............ and nice!

Wow that chequering and grips on #3 - I can believe the ''glued'' - love that - hate slippy grips.

Nice CDP's. I have an Ultra and love it. I put the VZ gatorbacks in blasted black canvas on mine and they are awesome.

    VZ grips ROCK.

Put a set on my Warrior, and love them.

Heres a pic of my Ultra with the VZ's. I also added a 30lpi checkered Ed Brown MSH to mine. It really added to the grip as well.

Yep, the plastic mainspring housing has to go, I'm thinking a Kimber factory magwell or a Wilson Speed Chute, maybe a Smith and Alexander for the Pro, and probably a standard flat 30 liner for the compact.

Actually there's some new guys on Ebay selling pretty good parts, I bought a new extended mag release from them and liked the quality.

I guess I'll have to start shopping for the addons, the only thing wrong with the Compact is that the sights are starting to be a little dim, I figure maybe only a year left on them, but don't worry I bargained the price down accordingly.

Nice, it looks well carried, I really like this configuration of the officer's size frame and the commander slide, still good length and not too much grip to stick out.

Thanks and I definately will! I picked up some new Wilson 8 round extended mags for the officers model, one great thing about the Para CCW and the Kimber Compact, I didn't have to buy new mags or holster, just more and better mags.

Call Kimber about the sights. Being that it is a series 1 pistol I don't know for sure if they would replace them but I would bet they would tell you to send them the slide and would swap them out for free.

Those eight-round Wilson mags work pretty good....I did have to send one back to the vendor, Midway USA, because it was giving me problems.

Good deal about the sights, just got back form the range, did better with the compact .45 than the pro .40, my wife's stainless ultra is running smooth now that I got rid of the garbage mags that came with it and replaced them with Tripps, my Pro CDP has some issues with the crappy factory mags, looks like it's another order from Tripp Research for me.

The Wilson mags worked very well as expected...pics of my wifes target coming soon, I'm very proud of her, for oncd she listened and moved her shoulders forward and tightened her grip and did quite well.
