    Taurus 1911's

Taurus has introduced a line of full-featured 1911's at very affordable prices. All I know is what I've read in a feature article in the NRA's "American Rifleman" magazine (August 2006, p. 44). Taurus' website only shows two 5" models in .45 ACP, but their downloadable 2006 catalog indicates that there is a 4" in .45 as well as 5" models in .40 S&W .38 Super and 9 mm; I guess those will be in the distribution system in the near future. The AR article mentions the 4" "C" model for which I'm starting to see magazine ads.

Anybody out there know more about release dates for some of the other models or future model plans? I'm hoping for a future 4" chambered for .40 S&W.

I bought the 5" TAURUS PT1911 about a month ago. When Kansas CCW goes into law after Jan 1st, I'll carry it under a vest or jacket. It is a very fine sidearm.

I wanted a Taurus 4" barrel 1911. No-one locally (Ft. Lauderdale Fla.) had heard of it, much less the full sized 1911. I called Taurus direct in Miami & was told that the 4" barrel model was planned for 2007. That that 5" 1911 was all that was planned for this year.
When I asked when in 2007, I did not get an answer.
So, I went out and bought a Kimber Compact Stainless ll. 4" barrel & Officers frame. 250+ rounds so far, and not a hiccup or any problems.

Will their 4-inch 1911 be commander size (4.25 inches), or will it actually be just 4 inches?

Page 17 of Taurus' 2006 catalog says that the compact model will have a 4-1/4" barrel and an overall length of 8.5", carrying 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP.
