    Model 36 Ammo selection...

I've recently obtained a S&W Model 36-2 manufactured 1988. I'm asking for input on ammunition for carry. Based on my research I'm not too hot on stuffing +P ammo down the 1 1/8" pipe regardless of what people may say. I know the "old" SAMMI specs for .38 special are some what equivocal to modern day +P ratings, just not going to chance it. I've made up my mind on my carry gun, I'm not intending on debating about revolvers vs semi autos, capacity or +P vs non +P I've seen people killed with a .22. I digress... I'm tied between Federal Nyclads and what I have now Buffalo Bore Standard pressure 158 LSWCHP. Any other decent factory ammo loads out there?

The Nyclad has earned a stellar reputation for use in the J-frames over the years. And just about any LSWC-HP will be effective, probably more so than JHPs which won't expand much when fired from a 2-inch snub. I'd try some of each and see where the POI is for you.

I also use the BB 158gr in all of my snubs. Great round!

Another offering from Buffalo Bore is the 125 gr. .38 special standard pressure low flash, low recoil JHP.
