I usually have my 1911 with hotter JHP loads for HD, but it don't matter because all my handguns are in a safe next to bed with other guns scattered in a room across house in case.

How bout a...I am working on it....As of now I just have the Public Defender so it is my EDC. Wife has a lil .22 auto that she has had for ages. There is a 12ga beside the bedroom door and my .308 Winchester 88 in the closet. I am in the process of procuring another EDC (380 TCP is looking like the one for me) and perhaps a dedicated HD gun besides the PD. My wife loves the PD so it will become her bedside gun/TC (trip carry-she can't carry at work so she doesn't even bother taking one with her). I will most likely get either a Sigma 40 or a Hi Point 45 depending for my bedside gun, with appropriate lighting/sighting aids.

I carry a Colt New Agent .45 but the gun in my nightstand is a EAA Windicator .357 magnum. Why? No mags to worry about. I load it and leave it. Always ready to go with 125 gr HP's. I've never had any problems with it. My SHTF gun is my Glock 21 SF with Tritium night sights, modified to shoot both .45 ACP and .45 Super. Thinking of picking up a Remington 1911R1 Enhanced that I saw today. Decisions, decisions....

I suppose you could say that my guns are separate.

My nightstand gun is a loaded Ruger GP100 4" carrying .357 mag rounds with a couple of speedloaders and a 90 lumens flashlight right next to it. It is my only revolver and I think wheel guns are easier to grab and use in the dark.

Bedroom closet has a Remington 870 Express 20" with 7 rounds in it. Also my Ruger SR556 and a 10-22 are in there, but those two are unloaded.

Across the hallway in my office I keep my Ruger SR9c and my little Kel-Tec P3AT. They are both loaded with spare mags handy and I use them for everyday carry.

All guns are within 25 feet of my bedroom.

My wife thinks she is living in an armed bunker, but she is OK with all of it. (No little kids around)

I think the people who justify their night-stand revolvers are making a good case
Mental illness incidents are used to threaten gun rights.
The March of Dimes headed off the Universal Iron Lung coverage debate, just sayin'.
Alternately, for those with a toolshed and ideas.

At the current time, no. Someday I hope to own my father's 4006 (I'm currently trying to talk him out of it, those old S&W autos are my 1911). Once I accomplish this task, the 4006 will become my HD gun. Until then, I've got my Glock 26, which is also my daily carry.

My CCW is a Walther PPS and home defense weapon is a XD Subcompact .40. The XD was originally my carry weapon but the Walther is lighter and easier to conceal. Still love my XD and will occasionally carry it.

The Mossberg 12 ga is the main self defense gun.

As for pistols, the only one that is too chubby to go anywhere is the Ruger GP100. But I'd probably reach for one of my carry pistols first, because of the higher training hours with those.
