    First 1911

I did it, I went a long time without a 1911, even hated on them for being unreliable, not able to feed HP's, etc. I was in a gunshop buying a G19 for my GF and there she sat, perfect tan, sexy curves and just the right amount of attitude. She was a classy broad, and the pricetag showed it, 1200 bucks. A little pillow talk and some light, gentle caressing and I Had her down to 925 OTD.

I felt Dirty, what would my parents think, my friends, yes she was beautiful, but we are so different. I am a gaston and she is a browning, our families hate each other, we would be star crossed lovers.....................................and then I shot her............................................I'm sold, I completely get it now............

    Love at First sight.

On the serious note, 200rds of 230gr ball, mixed Winchester and Blazer steel case, and 100 rds of 230GR Gold dot HP without a single fault.

I have had only one jam in my 1911 and that was because one case was belled when reloaded and got caught. Other than that it's been a beast. (rock island 1911)

Bought my first earlier this year. Sweet looking pistol, may it give you no issues as long as you own it.

Welcome to the side of the righteous. This is where you belong- where we ALL belong.

...is that a Sig 1911??? ...better than no 1911...

Welcome to the club. 1911s are fun, sexy, and even good enough to bring home to meet your parents.

I've put close to 500rnds through my used Springfield 1911-A1 and only had one stovepipe; the factory reload didn't have quite enough 'boom' in it- it send the round on target, but didn't push the slide hard enough.

You will be VERY happy with her, and you will want to take her with you everywhere.

Gotta love 1911's!! She is indeed gorgeous and i hope she gives you years of great flawless service! I haven't had a single hiccup on my sr1911 and hope I never do. Probably have 1,000 rounds down range and will be my edc as soon as my Kelly gun leather holster gets here!

This sort of thing comes close to being considered porn on here. I'm proud of you making it this far with the post! I admit to eyeballing in lust. I could feel dirty, but never jealous. Nice candy.

IMG_0965.jpgNice! Treat her like a lady and she will take care of you. I like the 1911"s too. Being a older gal, I just find I shoot them better for some reason. Good luck with yours!

1976 I was 21 in my Dads backyard blowing the crap out of tin cans with my new Ruger .357 mag. Hell I could shoot anywhere near the can & the dirt itself would knock the can for a loop! "Magnum magnum magnum"! My Dad said with much digust in his voice. "You kids & your magnums"!

Dad a WWII vet always had a handgun within reach a .22 High Standard Sport King took care of his farm varmit & fur trapping work, but sometimes he would carry his S&W M&P .38 special or his Colt SAA .45 Colt. Well anyway that day he goes into the house & comes out with a brand new blued series 70 goverment model and says"shoot a real gun"! Yes love at the first shot! That single action trigger the way it smashed the cans I soon found myself seeking out smaller & smaller targets!
I only have grown to love the old warhorse more, easy to reload easy to conceal can be customized to fit the man or the mission, ect. ect. ect.

Dads old Series 70 goverment model is mine now and just as accurate & capable now as that first day when "I got it". (my love for the 1911)
Nor will I ever forget sitting under the shade after that first shoot with that 1911 and hearing my Dad recount how one afternoon in a small Italian forest in 1944 a 1911 made sure that someday I would be born.

Great looking pistol but be warned, 1911s are communal creatures and tend to multiply.

I have a Sig 1911 Ultra and love it. Sig makes some awesome 1911s.

SIG doesn't make a 1911, but rather a 1911 variant. Congrats just the same. SIG does make a nice 1911 variant.

a mild note of caution here: to paraphrase noted firearm trainer, Ken Hackathorn: you can treat your Glock like you treat your lawnmower, but not a 1911.

take some time to learn what brand(s) of magazines and SD ammunition types are 100% reliable in your gun, and don't assume that another brand/type will work just as well until you've checked. keep your gun properly lubed - a 1911 will run dirty, but it won't run when dry. and remember to change the recoil spring, firing pin spring, and hammer spring according to the maker's recommendations.

Larry Vickers, 1911 expert, says that in 2012, the 1911 is a aficionado's pistol, not a service pistol.

think of it as the firearm equivalent of a Ferrari, while your Glocks are your pick-up trucks. more TLC needed.

my 1911 is a Kimber Gold Match. it's a wonderful gun for shooting at the range, but behind 10 other handguns of mine as a SD weapon. these are my choices, and i have no problems if others choose differently.

and do let us know the first time you pull the trigger on that beautiful gun, and it won't go 'bang' because you didn't disengage the safety. it's happened to me several times. would it surprise anyone to learn that the rest of my SD guns are 'point and shoot' semi-autos or DA revolvers?

I have had my eye on a 1911 for some time but have yet to make the leap. Dose anyone have a opinion on the Range officer? It seems to be selling at a price I might could just afford.

When I'm alone and the wife and kids are out of the house, I admit I pull my 1911 out of my holster, turn the lights down low, and drink a glass of wine whilst fondling her.

Congrats on the 1911! To quote the late, great Ben Kenobi: "You've just takin your first step into a larger world"
