High School graduation gift - a family tradition continues

In 1972, my father gave me a Colt Golt Cup for Graduation. This year, my 18 year old son was given his choice of a handgun or shotgun. He chose a .40 Smith and Wesson M&P. Went shooting together today to break it in. I pray that this will be a father/son activity that will carry us through college when he comes home for Xmas and summer. He is headed to Western Illinois to play football, major in Law Enforcement.

Thats a great tradition. Lets hope that he can do the same for his son.

What a nice tradition - and that you have the faith and confidence in your son to continue that tradition with him. Sounds like you're doing things right!

Great tradition. You guys should both take your gifts out target shooting sometime.

Congrats on his graduation and the tradition. Too bad he has to go to school in the god forsaken state of ILL.
