Thunder, thanks for the comparison as well. I was told that the Shield was quite a bit large than the LC9 but that is pretty close!

Now comes the hard part, 9 or 40? The lgs has a 40 in stock but I'm leaning towards the 9.

Your call of course, I prefer 9mm as well though.

Yeah I'll probably wait for the 9. That's hard when the 40 is sitting right there!

as for which to carry 9 vs 40, we all know its placement trumps caliber
you are the best judge for what you like or need or want

for me id take the shield in 40 to the range only enough to maintain competence.
as a 9 it would go in the fun to shoot catagery along with SD.
i think it is a bit light and small to learn the 40 with.
but if you are good with that cartrage already and want the percieved edge...
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.

For Sale 1985 Toyota Supra. one owner, 82K, will pass inspection, only needs some body/rust patching

For a small gun like that, definitely 9. 40 is unpleasant in all but the larger size of carry guns.

Yes I imagine the 9 is much easier to control. Several friends gave me hell for getting my xd in 9 and I just told them I shoot it better.

How does the shield compare to the kahr cw45? Yes I know one is 9 and the other 45 but as fare as height of the two guns. I carry a cw45 but have a little trouble with the grip being a little long and printing. I intend to look at a shield and compare but none of the shops in my area can keep one in. I had to add my name to weighting list. Any thoughts?

two pistols similar in size to the Shield with better triggers and comparable accuracy. Walther PPS and Bersa BP 9CC.
Smith & Wesson is actually late to the game with the Shield.....not the trend setter.

Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.
