Other than 1911s, I just don't care for safeties.
Other than my 1911, there are no safeties or mag disconnects on any handgun of mine. SIGs, Glocks, and the new M&P (coming this weekend) all rely on horse sense.
No saftey, didn't want it for a carry gun.

No more than a 1911... pretty natural position for it to be, doesn't get in the way when shooting if that's what you mean?

I have a FS 9 and a Shield. One with and one without. Have a LS 9mm Pro coming w/o. Two without one with.
I have a .380 Bodyguard and that has a safety but not an M&P. I will stop now.

My Shield has a safety but I don't use it. I'm a lefty and there is no reason for it anyway.

It's a safety and I like them. I have gotten use to switching them off when I practice. I guess I rather have the extra protection albeit rare I just rather have the protection. Safety first fellas

I own 8 M&Ps...4 have safeties:
- 22 with safety
- 45 Dark Earth mid-size with safety
- 9 Shield with safety
- 40 Shield with safety
- 9c (police issue) with Crimson laser
- 40c with Crimson laser
- 40 FS with Crimson laser
- 45. FS
The safeties don't bother me. I'm use to the one on the Shield.

safety on mine, doesn't bother me. feels just like a 1911.
my M&P9c is with illuminated sights and the thumb safety.
at first i thought i wouldn't like the safety, but i like it.
speaking of the illuminated sights, they are great. they are basically glow in the dark. a few seconds of light and they glow all night.
no need to spend the $ to get night sights.
