Carry Gun Size vs. Your Size? [Glock 19/23 vs 26...]

Have a sort of strange question, but it would really help give me an idea of which handgun to get for carry. I'm considering (for various reasons) a Glock 19, 23 or 26. (G19 and 23 are same size.) As far as concealment, I was wondering out of the people who carry these guns in particular, how big are you (at least height and weight)?

Or if you can give your sidearm's dimensions, that would be great too.

    G19 & G23:
    Length: 6.85"
    Height: 5.00"
    Width: 1.18"

    Length: 6.29"
    Height: 4.17"
    Width: 1.18"

As for me, I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs. I know these are popular models so it would be nice to know what kind of people are carrying them (or firearms of similar size). Also, where do you carry it (IWB, etc.)? Since my frame is on the small side, I'm not sure if even a G19 would be very concealable. Help!!

I know guy's your size carrying a full size 1911's (5") so it's not your size/weight as much as it's your clothing of choice and how it fit's you. A G19 is a very good size to carry and should be no problem with the right set up.

I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs. I carry a G-27. I either use a Max Con V for IWB, or a Def Con for OWB. I also carry a Para P-12. With that I use for IWB a Watch Six. For OWB I use an Eagle Defender. Both guns conceal easily.

I do at times carry a 1911A1 in either a Max Con V or I can actually conceal it very well in the Def Con. I just have to make sure that I have a shirt that has a long enough tail!!

I'm 5'8", weigh 178 lbs on a good day and carry a Sig 229 in .40. Try this site for pistol specifications: Also search this forum for carry rigs. Remember: you get what you pay for with said rigs!

    I'm 6'0" and 240 lbs.

I carry the Glock 26 not because of my size, but because of the pistol's size! I find that the hardest part of the pistol to hide is the length of the grip...the Glock 26 fits the bill better than the Glock 19/23 size.

    Me: 5'9".

Primary gun: CZ 75 P-01 9mm, OWB paddle holster. 1.7 lbs, 7.2" length, 5.3" height, 1.4" width. With the right holster, despite its width, the P01 conceals very well.

Backup gun: KelTec P3AT 380ACP, pocket holster. 8.3oz, 5.2" length, 3.5" height, 0.77" width. Utterly disappears in the pocket, concealing better than a wallet.

    My height: 5'6''
    My weight: 180

I carry a glock 19 & 26 dependening on the weather. I find it failry easy to conceal both of them, but mainly carry the 26 in the summer and and the 19 in the 2 weeks it gets cold here, when I can cover the slight bulge with a light jacket.

PS- I use royal guard and summer comfort holsters

I'm about the same size, and a G26 conceals very nicely under just about any (non-snug) shirt I wear.

Comp-Tac C-TAC and Don Hume 715-M SOOT worn at about 4:00.

I could probably get a G19 to conceal almost as well, with some adjustments to position and cant, but I haven't tried it.

I'm 5'10 about 215 pounds, and as posted previously (I think) your clothes and holster have alot more to do with it than your size. I carry G27 IWB or G23 in a fanny pack.

IMHO you should go with the 26/27 over the 19/23 if you can only have one. The reasoning is that the smaller weapon is easier to conceal. Not that the 19/23 size is hard, but the other is easier. The 26/27 will also use the 19/23 mags if you require it. Get both if you can, there is not much you cant do defense wise with this combo.

I used to carry the 23 myself and before I "saw the light" and left the "dark side" I enjoyed carrying it.

I'm 6-1, 210lbs and prefer the G-19 over the sub compacts. I tried carrying a friends G-26 for a week, and while it is a bit easier to conceal, I just couldn't seem to get a comfortable firing grip on it. (it didn't have the grip extension)
