    glock 23 with winchester 165 grain fmj's?

ok, so i moved across the state. i am at an outdoor range now, instead of an indoor one. and the local sprawl mart doesn't carry the federal 180 gr. fmj's i had been firing. here, they have the winchester 165 fmj.

i am having big problems lately. is it me? is it the new ammo? outdoor range?? at my old range with my old ammo my groups were pretty decent. i would say i am an intermediate shooter. i have been shooting all my life, but i am by no means a crack shot, but my groups at least stay in the first 2 rings of the target at 20 yards. but this new ammo/range, man, i have been sucking. there are some shots that don't even hit the target. they still hit the target board and go into the berm, but there has to be something going on here. it's not the sights, because there is no consistency. some low, some high, etc. has anyone else had problems with winchester 165 fmj through a glock 23?

i have even tried sitting down with a hand rest. no luck.

that is mostly what I shoot and never had a problem with it like that. sounds like you have a mental barrier you need to get over; slow down and stop jerking the trigger

I haven't shot Winchester per se with my G23, but I vary between Federal AE 165 and 180. I haven't noticed any difference in accuracy between the two, and the reason I shoot both is to try to see if I do better with one. I haven't seen that. My guess is your problem is something other than ammo.

i am fairly certain it isn't my trigger control. i exhale and squeeze gently. i do dry fire exercises frequently. hmm...it has been hot as hell lately. maybe thats throwing me off my game. thanks for the input guys.

There is no way it is the ammo. Maybe shoot at 10 yards and see how you do.

it was the heat. (about 95 degrees and humid) the last time i went to the range it was 80 and i was fine. been a while since i shot in uncomfortable conditions. i had forgot how much it can impact performance.

It could be the 165g ammo is generating a little more slide velocity than your standard 180g and therefore more recoil impulse. Then again it could be your Glock likes the 180g round better. I've found 180's shoot softer than the lighter stuff.
