Recommendation for .22 Compact Semi Automatic

Anyone have a recommendation for a compact, subcompact or micro compact .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun?

I'm shopping around for my wife who is most comfortable w/ firing .22 caliber rounds, so I'm not looking for referrals on larger caliber firearms. I'm a 9mm man myself, so I don't know enough about what's reliable in a .22 firearm.

Only thing that pops into my head is the Beretta Bobcat. I believe it is available in both .22 and .25 cal.

^^^ Here is your best answer on a micro 22. I've shot my buddy's a ton over the years and it has always been reliable. Something I can't say for a lot of small 22s I've had over the years.

That's what I was thinking. Just curious, what makes it "no contest" for you?

I haven't found a 22LR magazine fed gun yet that doesn't have an unacceptable amount of feed and ejection problems. Rim fire just doesn't feed reliably for me. If you have to go with 22LR you might want to consider a revolver of some kind. Or better, go with a small center fire caliber unless you're just using it for plinking.

Let me preface this by saying I am not generally a Taurus fan in any way, but I hear good things about their Model 22 "Polymer". It's actually kind of a good looking little gun. Tip up barrel, exc. Can get it for like $199.

I bought an SR 22P and have not regretted it. It is a well designed piece. That was and would be my choice.

    Thumbs up

Bersa and berreta are all great weapons. But save yourself a bout 10000 pretty penny's and go with a phoenix arms. hp22a they are reliable accurate. And can be used in the watch pocket in most pants while leaving nothing more but the backstrap and hammer exsposed it is a single action only semi auto so it takes a day or two to get the draw down but it is easy as pie when you get the hang of it... and it's vented barrel rib allows for hours of plinking with little chance of melting your barrel
