    New XD .45 4"

Bought an XD .45ACP 4" today; and put 100 rounds through it shoots very well! It is much liked, thanks to all the input from the forums.

I think I'll still carry my PPK depending on what I'm wearing...
Question for XD carriers... what holster do ya'll have?
Does anybody use the OWB holster it comes with?

Nice pick up! I don't have an XD yet but I will be picking one up soon, I am going with the 9mm though for training classes and if I like it as much as I think I will I'll pick up the .45acp as well for carry. Having 14+1 of .45acp is nice to have for sure.

As far as the holster set up, the one that comes with the XD's is really not a very good one to be honest. I inspected one at a training class last weekend as well as watched the guy who was using it struggle to draw with it everytime. I am not sure if it was'nt broken in or what but he was the last to draw and fire every time.

Get a good leather holster if you can and are willing to wait for it.

    Texas...

is hot, just like Florida! When wearing light clothing, I only like the IWB's for concealment.
    Your results may vary...

I carry the XD service in a Crossbreed holster IWB when I can go untucked. I switched from a Don Hume 715 open top, which was comfortable but tended to shift by the time I spent 8 hours getting up and sitting back down at my desk. The Hume is fine for a day out and about in town though.

Both are good options for the XD and priced around $30 for the Hume and $50 for the Crossbreed. I'm looking forward to cooler weather where I can carry my XD more and leave the snubbie at home!

When I carry my XD-9 I use a nylon IWB Uncle Mike's holster. While it's not an ideal set up, it works for now. I don't use the provided holster other than at the range, it's to difficult to conceal

By the way the guy using the provided holster probably over adjusted the set screw.

i actually didnt like the holster that came with the gun....it didnt hold the gun close enough to the body, at least for my tastes.

They seem like really nice guns....I'd buy one, except that the "wonder45" role in my inventory has been filled three times over already.

I have an XD45 4" and it's a great carry choice. I like a clip in iwb holster because I wear shorts with no belt a lot. For that reason I really like the Hume 715-m and as far as I'm concerned it's the best bang for the buck out there.

There are definitely better belt holsters out there, but it depends on what you are looking for.

It's a great gun, you'll love it. I also didn't care for the included holster. Currently I use the Crossbreed IWB. I went ahead and got that even though I have a Maxcon V on order- the 16-20 week wait is just so long. When I get the Max con, I'll see which I prefer. Unfortunately, here in the Vegas heat, it's hard for me to carry it. Too hot for a cover garment (at least that's effective on my tubby frame). I did wear it today, with my new 5.11 vest, but it was still hot. Until I can get a decent vest for dress wear, I'll still have to pocket carry my Glock 26. But having that XD 45 on my hip today was sweet!

    Laurence,

Toss those pieces of junk that Springfield sends with the gun. If you want OWB....a great off the shelf holster is a Galco

For IWB carry I use the Max Con V from Brommeland Gunleather.

Both are extremely comfortable but I prefer IWB Carry!!!
