    Picked up a new snubbie

Went to check out a new (to me) gun store today. They had a brand new no-lock 442 in the military/LEO display for $336. Even the price from Bud's is $377. And after ordering, I would still have to pay 9.7% sales tax (WA) and a $25 FFL transfer fee. For $336 in a local shop, I decided that it was purchase time.

I've had a no-lock 642 for almost 4 years now, and it is my most carried weapon. There's just something about those airweight Centennials that really appeals to me.

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy about my purchase. I plan to try this gun with a Ken Null "City Slicker" holster, and will be ordering one soon.

Here's a pic of my new gun along with a couple friends.

Great buy and great price!!! The 642 and 442 make a great tandem carry pair. There's a lot of merit to double snub carry.

Very nice! I am keepin an eye out for a deal like that on a J frame, thats a great deal, especially brand new. I haven't seen a whole lot of used J frames for sell so far, think that says something In fact I don't even think I've seen a used one for that price.

    Good price!

At least something we buy has maintained its price for many years. I bought my 642 snubby about 1996, new in a gun store, for about $350. So your equivalent 442 is about the same price 16 years later. These little guns are classics, and very useful tools.

That's a great deal in this day and age and "no lock" too! I have a Model 642 but feel the Model 442 is the better looking revolver.

Say, what about that square butt, flat-latch Chief's Special with the diamond stocks? That looks nice too. Do you know when it was made?

I love everything about the 442. Now if they only made one with night sights...

Great deal and no lock would have pounced on it also.

Yeah, my 642 is the pistol that's slipped into my pocket when answering the door or needing a quick jot out to the store and not in the mood to carry a compact semi.
