Suggestions for a 45 carry
Looking to get some suggestions/options.
I have a few requirements.
1) 4" or greater barrel
2) no safety
3) concealable
4) $600 range
5) and of course in 45 ACP
I'm a bigger guy (6'1 and 240lbs)
I plan to carry inside the waist.
I did decide on a S&W M&P 45c, but they are no where to be found in my area.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
J

Well pretty much any 1911 GI fits your description. Lots of people can conceal a full size 1911 and size of the person really isnt much of an issue

Look online for the m&p. Seems to be some available there. For your specs that's what I would choose. I will be getting one eventually. I really like the m&p series. I have shot them but only own an xd so that is what I comparing it to.
Look into glocks as well.

XDm 45 Compact 3.8. Just .2 under your 4" requirement, but a fantastic weapon and it's in the 600-650 range. If I had not decided to consolidate to 9mm I'd still have my .45.

Second on finding the M&P on line. I recently got one of those and I love it. Love.
A Glock 30 is a good choice, too.
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

No safety is one of his requirements, though.

In the price range you specify I believe your best choice is the Glock30sf. It's small (about the same size as a Glock 19), has no safety, has high capacity (10+1), is very durable, easy to clean/maintain and combat accurate. I would also recommend a Sig Sauer P220 Carry model if you can come up with another couple hundred dollars....or maybe find one used.

This has a 4.60 inch barrel and meets the other requirements. Concealable IWB is a debate though.
GLOCK
This on the other hand has a 3.78 inch barrel and I can conceal it IWB with no problems and very often do.

Then there is this.
GLOCK
Good luck with your search.

Two possibilities
I use two different .45s that meet your requirements, as long as you allow a 3.8 inch barrel on a Glock 36 to pass as almost 4.0 inches. My Glock 36 and Sig P245 are shown below. Both are very reliable and accurate, and both are single stack for a slim grip and easy concealment. The Glock is lighter weight at 20 inches empty, while the Sig is more substantial at 29 ounces empty. Neither has a safety. I believe their current price is about $600 each.

What part of Iowa you in?
You can always order one elsewhere and have it shipped to a receiving FFL?
If you're not opposed to buying used, you can find some HK USP Compacts in .45 floating around.
As mentioned, Glock 21 in the 4" of greater.
Kahr P45? Barrel is slightly under 4" but a nice package.
Maybe a Certified Pre-Owned Sig P220.

I throw another vote in for M&P. I owned a full size M&P45 which was fantastic. For me, the handle gave me away too much so I went with a M&P40c (would have done 45c but the 40c came up just as I was looking and was available for a trade).
Ruger SR1911 in Remora OR M&P40c w/Apex DCAEK in Sticky Holster
And Firestorm .38sp Snubby as backup.

A 1911 is not going to meet his requirements, he does not want a gun with external safety on it.

Kahr CW45 comes close, however the barrel length is only 3.64". I'm 6' and about 200 lbs, have no problems concealing it and she shoots better than I do.
