In addition to a M&P, look at a Ruger SR9c. Also fine carry weapon.

It weights 23oz and is 13+1. You can also get it with 10+1.
    I second this recommendation.

An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.

Actually, the P7M8 is a single stack gun - 8 rounds of 9mm in the magazine. H&K does make a higher capacity squeeze cocker model, but it has a different model number.

Pogo2 you should be ashamed of yourself!

Posting such alluring photos of gun porn.

I now have to spend my kids college money to get me on of those.

Sig P-239 in 9mm, .357SIG, or .40S&W. Springfield Armory EMP in 9mm (the gun is supposed to kick hard in .40). a compact CZ 75. a full-size Kahr in steel or polymer.

Taurus slim 40 / i own one and have not had one problem out of it at all, is a single stacker, and very light and compact..... You will hear horror stories about all guns, i know i take that in stride and do a lot of research on a gun before i buy it.... with that said, I carry a S&W airweight, just cause i like it..... another of my favorites is springfield 40/SC .. a lot has to do with how you carry, and what you carry it in, i never gave it a lot of thought, untill, i bought a quality custom holster and a real gun belt.....that has made all the difference in the world....check out UBG holsters, if you are gonna carry, or a reputable holster maker, and do not forget the belt....

I asked my stock broker the other day, what I should be investing in ....his reply, canned goods n ammo !!!

Try the Kimber Ultra CDP II at .45 cal, 6.8" long, single stack mags...The Ultra+ has a slightly longer grip, if you need it...Talk about a fun shoot...

If you're considering the M&P9 (full size), also take a look at the new Walther PPQ. Very similar, but with a better out-of-the-box trigger and slightly less bulky. Not available in a compact model--you'd have to go with the P99c if you wanted the smaller version.

I know you said you don't like Glocks. But right now I've found the Compact and sub compact Glocks to be my prefered CC handguns.

Before that it was the Colt Defender.

But I wouldn't rule out what others have mentioned here.

It's all personal opinion anyway. What one person likes may be too big/small/heavy/not feel right or be their caliber of liking.

Good luck with your search and I hope you like what you get.
