For Shield lovers: If you couldn't have a 9MM Shield.....
I just got my CHL in the mail and want to get a carry gun.
I REALLY like the Shield but, alas, none are available anywhere around here (pretty much everyone that I called said that they're expecting it to be the first of the year before they'll have some). I'm not really impressed by the Kimber Solo or Ruger LC9 (okay, but just felt "meh" about them). If you couldn't have your Shield, what would you try? I have a Glock 19, but I don't like how it "conceals" on me (I'm a woman, just shy of 5'7 and weigh 130lbs on a "fat" day, for reference).
I really don't want to wait 4+ months to start carrying.
Thanks in advance for advice/replies.

I have never tried a shield and have a LC9 which I really like. I also looked at the Kahr, Keltec and the Beretta Nano. Of the 3 I liked the Nano a lot (kinda like a baby Glock). Since you already have a Glock I would look at the nano as the ergonomics are really similar in a lot of ways.

Check out the S&W Bodyguard 380; that's what I carry now. Good luck.

If the Shield had not come out, I was gearing up to get a Kahr CW9 or CM9.

Kahr MK9 alternative to Shield...
I got this Kahr MK9 several years ago and it satisfies my 9mm 6+1 cravings quite well. It is probably slightly smaller but heavier than the Shield, and it costs a little more. It is reliable and handles recoil well. I carry it in appendix position in the Comp-Tac holster show, where it conceals well.

If your not opposed to online sales, and If you get on some of the online gun stores mailing list, I'm sure you wont need to wait that long. I bought a 9mm shield when they first came out. But also went to all my online gun sources and signed up for notifications when the shield in .40 was available along with a few others. For a while it seemed like I was getting emails weekly telling me that they are in. I am assuming these sell out fast and would need to be jumped on right away.

If I did not have a shield I would be after a sig 938. I too am a woman and I like to pocket carry
or inside the wastband. The only thing is you have to carry cocked and locked. I don't mind since
I mostly carry a 1911 all the time.
Good luck with finding the one that works for you.

Walther PPS
Walther PPS is the same size as the shield, even shorter in the grip. Available in both 9mm and 40 cal. Its pricey at about $599 but it beats waiting months. Ive been waiting since April and will be getting this in 9mm. Hope this helps

I have a LC9 and really like it.
I have not handled a Shield yet but intend to buy one when they are more available.
I will keep the LC9 also because has been 100% reliable.
I had a Kahr PM 40 and it was a POS, I traded it for the LC9.

Was all set for a CM9 until rumors about the Shield started flying.

I'd get a Walther PPS 9mm if the Shield was not available. I just spent considerable time and ammo with various concealed pistols and I like the Shield a lot but the PPS is just as nice. I'm so-so about the Kahr brand....50/50 chance on getting a good one is my feelings.

Bersa BP 9CC....the single stack 9mm that Glock should have made. Bersa does no advertising, so chances are you have
not heard about it. Great trigger with a very short reset, polyganol rifling, three dot sights. I have two BP's and have no interest in the Sheild as a result. Have handled the Sheild, and it has nothing on the BP.

Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.
