Question Kimber 3" for CCW.... Help?

Hey all, I am new to this forum but it has been a wealth of knowledge so far so I thought I would ask a question. I am looking at getting a Kimber 3" for a concealed carry gun. I already have the pro carry stainless in 9mm as my target gun, and it has functioned flawlessly. I am debating between the Kimber Tactical Ultra, Ultra Carry II stainless, and Raptor II. Is their Kimpro finish worth it? The serrations on the front of the grip of the raptor vs the checkering on the Tactical vs the smooth on the UCII, does it really make a huge difference? I haven't had any problems with maintaining my grip on my pro carry. I appreciate any and all input on this. Thanks!

I carry the Ultra carry II , with stock rubber grips. great carry gun. It replaced my SW1911 commander size. I cannot speak to the Kimpro finish but the original finish on my Ultra Carry peeled in less than one year.
I Cerakoted it 3 weeks ago, could not be happier with results (even if done by an amature)

I carry and shoot a raptor II in 3 in often. Awesome gun but has been known to not like certain fmj ammo. Will run great with a good self defense load. I carry hornady tap in mine. As for the checkering it feels good to me. It's definitely better than no checkering at all IMHO. No issues with kimpro either looks new still

Faded have you noticed much wear on your gun wearing the finish off? I know finish isn't exactly the most important thing in a gun but its something to think about. Have either of you had any problems with feeding etc or did that pretty much stop after the break in period?

My mom just got a Kimber ultra CDP 9mm (her 1st gun) for a CCW, and we put 100 rounds through it the other day and had 4-5 rounds that didn't eject properly.. I took it apart and cleaned it but I was a little worried by it jamming like that. I have had 2 malfunctions in my pro carry in about 3000 rounds. I am going to put a few hundred more through it and see if that fixes anything. Thought I would put out a feeler and see if anyone else had problems with that etc or if it is just not broken in yet.

If you do go with a 3" Kimber for your edc, I have a used Brommeland Max-Con V I will sell you very reasonably. The Brommeland Max-Con V, (arguably) The Best IWB Holster On The Planet - YouTube

If you were in Texas I would make you a good deal on a UCII, I am banking money for an M1A or a Fulton M-14. I enjoy the UCII, it is surprising how little it recoils for a 3" 45ACP. But since I have bought my G17 and carry it most of the time the UCII sits in the safe.

I have the Kimber CDP II, .45

First couple hundred rounds I had a few FTF / FTE problems that went away after it got broke in. I put a set of VZ G-10's on it and the grip is firm, even in the rain (IDPA match got soaked).

My eyes are going South and I just had a set of XS Big Dot sights installed. Haven't made it to the range yet to try them out but, I can sure see the front sight now. I like my little Kimber and carry it on occasion but, I normally carry my G-26 mostly because of the capacity.
    I think, therefore I am...

I have kicked around the idea of a G-26 as well... Feeling about as decisive as a kid in a candy store trying to figure out what gun I want to get for carry. I have even thought about a revolver.. Good news is I am not in a huge hurry just yet. Thanks for the input on the CDP Dennis.

If you aren't absolutely sold on any particular edc, I highly recommend a Gen4 Glock 19.

I love my Ultra CDP II ... I'm really accurate with it and I love the grip/checkering and all the features of that model.
No problems with it I use Kimber Pro TacMag or Wilson Combats mags and carry it with Speer Gold Dots 230gr

Last year, I wrote a review about it here in this other thread with more details, etc:
Kimber Ultra CDP II my take after 2,000 rounds…

Right now, I'm usually carrying a G19 but when I get the 45ACP itch the CDP II is my choice ..

I like the review kal0.. Does anyone know if there are some good mags out there for the kimber 3" in 9mm? My mom just got that gun and Kimber doesn't make tac mags for the 9mm. I do like Glocks Mike, I am just not certain I would be comfortable carrying it with a round in the chamber. It isn't that I doubt the gun or anything like that, I would just prefer a gun to have a manual safety to disengage as of right now. I still haven't ruled out the dark side yet, but if I flip that way I will probably go with a gen 4 G26. Have they fixed the ejection issues completely yet with the gen 4s?

My Gen4 Glock 19 has never had any issues, ejector or otherwise. Put it in a solid holster on a solid belt, and one in the tube is a non-issue. The 19 is a very easy carry, so it as is small as I need to go.

One more suggestion to consider, well maybe two, Check out a STI Escort 3" 1911 with alloy frame. For a holster I own a Garrett Industries Silent Thunder IWB. It's a leather lined Kydex holster, you get the benefits of both that way. They also offer a Versa Max style and OWB designs as well.
