Can you answer a "how many" question or do you have to do "inventory"?

I was asked by a family member - "how many guns do you have now?",,,, and my response was - "I don't know."

Do you know the exact number of guns that you have, or do you have to do a "mental inventory" or better yet, have to make out a list to figure out the total number?

    Just wondering.

I've got three and my wife has one. So far, it's easy. I hope to get to the point where I can say "I don't know" (without suffering some sort of brain damage or memory loss).

I don't have any guns, but if I did, they would be listed on a spreadsheet to keep me from having to physically count them, while also having a record of them in case they would be stolen.

And, if I had ANY ammunition, I'd probably do the same with it.

I would at least have to do a mental inventory. I'm not quite sure how this happened.

    Cool

    No guns for me.

I only read about guns on these forums.

I see no need for anyone to have guns except the police and the military.

It's been years since I had any idea of how many guns I don't have but I've made hypothetical lists and taken photos of the figments of an active imagination.

I recomend you do a spreadsheet with, brand, mod, serial, type of action, date of purchase, where from, and, the purchase cost and current value as a minumum. This will help your family out should you succumb to some severe or, God forbid, deadly accident. Another option is MyGunDatabase . I have been using it for a couple of years and like it rather well. In any case, I highly you keep some record of your firearms. I have a very tiny collection of twenty firearms and I don't want my wife getting ripped off should I die.

    Regards!

If I had any guns I would have a picture of each showing the serial number and those along with any documents would be placed in my gun safe.......if I had one that is.
