    3.5" 1911 ??

I am looking at a Sig 1911 Ultra compact and the Sig 1911 TACOPS in the 4.2'". I have heard quite a few folks talk down the short barrel 45's especially in the Kimber line. Anyone with experience with the ultra compact Sig ?? Are the 3.5 or 3.3 in the Sig case something to stay away from...Yes use would be for EDC...Thanks !!!!

I've got a Kimber and I've had a couple of issues, failures to feed. I've not honestly narrowed it down to see if it's the fault of the gun or a particular magazine. I'm still well under five hundred rounds through the gun, so we're still in the breakin phase. I'll try to keep you posted how it turns out.

Don't listen to all the 3.5" hate. That's my advice.

I have two Kimbers a 3" Super Carry Ultra HD and a CDP Pro 4" and have not had a bit of trrouble with either of them after being broken in and I carry one or the other everyday and bet my life on either. Don't believe all the hate you read on the internet. Most of the haters have nevered owned a Kimber.

I have a Kimber Ultra CDPII, and used to own a Colt Defender. The Ultra CDPII is absolutely flawless, it eats everything but those Hornady Critical defense rounds with the little rubber ball.
The Defender?.. Ran perfectly too until I took it to a well known 1911 gunsmith who f#@$%^ed it up so back that it never ran correctly again....
Don't listen to all the 3" haters. Todays guns are a marvel of engineering, and with modern ammunition and a modicum of care will run flawlessly.

Agreed. If I were to get such a gun one of little Hawgs would be the front-runner.

Do yourself a favor and check the new Detonics Combat Master. It is an amazing pistol for every day carry. Size, accuracy and looks makes it my favorite. By the way, It is only one of two 1911's that have never had any hiccups whatsoever in my experience. I currently own 3 but I have own and shot a lot of them from high high end customs to bottom of the barrel.

I have the Sig Ultra Compact two tone. I only have 200 rnds down it so far, 1 fail to feed (tap of the slide fixed it) and two fail to lock slide back after last round. Thats it.

I paid a grand, but you can get it cheaper online. I bought mine from Gander which was 1050.00 but they price matched Cabelas for me at 999.99. Seems to be around 900.00 online. I could have bought it online but Im impatient.

Mine came with two mags, so double check that if you get one.

Just be sure to run it a bunch with the rounds you plan to use for carry. Some JHP rounds have problems in the short 3" platform 1911's. I swore I would never own one until a STI Escort followed me home one day. I've thrown lots of rounds at that thing with no problems at all. It's just a little snappy when compared to a commander or full size.
