This is a discussion on Best Sub-Compact .45 for Concealed Carry within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; Springfield XDS or CW45....
I really like my Glock 30, but if I had to do it all over again--I'd really like my Glock 36. If having fewer rounds were an issue (and it's not) carrying an extra mag would make a nice counterbalance.

Since you're already familiar w/ Kahr, I'd get either one of Kahr's 45's. I bought a CW45 some months back and have been very pleased. I didn't see a need to spend the extra money for the PM45 or P45 for what is primarily minor enhancements that don't appreciably effect the gun's function. My CW45 has been a pleasure to carry w/ a Side Guard Holsters "Tuck Clip." It's gobbled everything I've fed it, except for some lead bullet handloads. The Glocks are clearly fine weapons, but I don't like the feel/fit of Glocks in my hand.
Carrying it every day, fairly concealable and comfortable, extremely reliable and accurate, Tritium night sights. Spare mag is full-size with X-Grip adapter. 6 in mag + 1 in pipe + 8 in spare = 15 of 45 ACP. Buds still has them at $621 - better hurry!
Just got a 30sf. Love shooting it. I still need to get a holster for it so I haven't carried it yet.
XD-S. Just do it. You know you want to.

Glock 30, size, capacity, and .45.
I carried a 36 for a bit, but that particular pistol was not reliable.
I have a CW45 and I do not consider it a subcompact, that grip is just too long, I wish it were the size of my CW40. The only other problem I have with the CW45 is it will not run semi wadcutter bullets, the ejecting case runs right into the wadcutting edge of the next cartridge in the mag.
I have shot a box of shells through an xds that is the one you want.
I just bought a Glock 30 and really like it. It's not a whole lot bigger (longer, taller) than my Walther P22 but it is a little fatter.

Perhaps a bit heavier and chunkier than the OP wants....but hey, quality and reliability have been the name of the game in my Sig 220 Compact SAS:

Another vote for the Backup 45.
XDS...almost same exact overall dimensions as my shield...but filled with 230 grain goodness.
