You stole my list so I guess I will do another one.
"A first rate man with a third rate gun is far better than the other way around". The gun is a tool, you are the craftsman that makes it work. There are those who say "if I had to do it, I could" yet they never go out and train to do it. Don't let stupid be your mindset. Harryball 2013
Ok Ok Ok....Top 5
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Walther (non S&W)
I don't even own a Glock yet, but the last 3 semis I bought - PPS, PPQ, M&P 45 - all started with wanting a particular Glock and ended up being barely nosed out. So I have to give them credit for being consistently at the top. IMO, of course.

5. Everything else
That's my top four based on guns I have personal experience with. I've owned lots of other brands that I wouldn't trust my life to, and therefore don't make the list at all. Those guns range from super cheapies(jennings) to midrange(taurus) to higher range(kimber).

5.) Hi-Point (yes I said it!)
According to the criteria the OP mentioned (safe, reliable, goes bang everytime) Hi point made my list. For all you haters out there, my 9mm carbine has never had a FTF or a FTE. This is after thousands of rounds & it is extremely accurate. I have not ever had one of their pistols, but on youtube there is a video where they put a C9 through a torture test that IMHO no other pistol would have survived & it stayed functional through the vast majority of it! No sir, Hi point gets my vote
