top 5 pistol manufacturers

hey everyone, i know everyone has their own opinions so i wanted to know what most people consider the top 5 handgun manufacturers. for me and what i have experience with it would be, not in any order:

ruger
fnh usa
hk
s&w
cz usa

im ssure alot of you disagree but these are the only manufacturers i have tried pistols from so do not have an opinion on some of the other brands like, glock, walther, beretta, browning, colt, etc. thanks for any replies

My top 5 handgun manufacturers, in terms of quality of the product over time, would be:

1. Sig Sauer
2. Heckler & Koch
3. Smith & Wesson
4. Colt
5. Glock

And my second five would be:

6. Browning
7. Walther
8. Kimber
9. Ruger
10. Kahr

• Glock -- high quality, durability, reliability
• Heckler & Koch -- high quality, durability, reliability
• CZ -- high quality, durability, reliability
• Smith & Wesson -- decent quality, wide range of products
• Ruger -- decent quality, reliability

FN probably deserves to be on the list, as well, though I don't have any direct experience with them beyond a few shots with one model, way back when.

By comparison, I'd say that many of the rest (of the makers) are hit-or-miss propositions. These are ones I have direct experience with, having owned or shot extensively.

I am not sure about some of the names mentioned, however, it would be hard for me to justify spending $3,000. or more on a hand gun. My most expensive carry gun was $550. JMHO however.

I'm trying to understand what you mean by "top 5" - the ones you like the best? The ones with the best quality? Best value? Fit your hand the best?
And are these the top 5 you've chosen out of many more, or just the 5 whose guns you own? Do you also have a "bottom" list?

'Concur. The criteria is undefined. There are many brands in my safe, each (ok - most) chosen for a specific reason. Each and every one was the #1 choice for their intended purpose.
