    Smith and Wesson 3rd Gen

I picked up a 915 semi auto in very good condition so I took it out to test it. It passed every feeding test I could give it, mixed ammo, etc and didn't hiccup. The trigger is DA/SA and has mushy creep, I will have that taken care of. I fired at 15 meters and this baby put all rounds in the A zone of an IPSC target, about a 4 inch group rapid fire. This will not be my standard carry gun but for under $400 bucks it is a great defensive handgun.

Nice! I had a 4006 that I sold as I'm not partial to DA/SA guns, but it was a really nice pistol. I still kinda like the old S&W's.

I have read very good reviews on that pistol. They said it was extremely accurate.
The 910 replaced it as that is when the magazine limit ban went into effect.

Is that a third gen or second gen?
I thought the 4 digits were 3rd, like 6906, 5906 and so forth.
    Good find nonetheless!

I have three 3rd gen S&Ws. They are awesome pistols. Although I have never tried I have heard that the will even feed empty casings. I don't know if that is true, but they have definitely fed everything I have put through them (I have NEVER had a failure to feed.).

Third Gen, part of the Value Series. The third Gens are favorites of mine.

The 3G S&W's can be a real revelation. Too bad they're all discontinued. Good thing is, there's a ton of shops that know them cold, and spare parts abound.

    Glad you found a winner.

I love 3rd Gens. Had a 5906 and currently have a 4003, which is in my carry rotation.

My 4566 and 6906 have been flawless with any ammo I stuff in them. Too bad they were killed off by the plastic market.

I love the 3rd gens. I have recently replaced my "modern" pistols with a 6909, 3913 and a 4506-1. The guns operate flawlessly. I don't miss the XD, LC9 or the M&P .45 that I had. I am hoping to collect the entire 3900, 4500, 5900, and 6900 series excluding the DAOs. I forgot the CS9,40 and 45.

The first gun that I ever purchased was a 915. It never gave me any trouble and I regret parting with it.

    Congrats on your latest acquisition.
