So anyone know a good engraver? I know I would have to get the stainless steal redone but I've always wanted to do it.

I can strongly recommend Bruce Shaw. Look him up on the web; I shot with him for many years. Bruce was a multiple national championship shooter, but his engravings, especially wildlife, is superb. I don't know what he charges, but his work is detailed beyond belief! I will try to add a pict:

Bruce received his art training at Cal-State University at Los Angeles and is a graduate mechanical engineer. He started engraving in 1978 and has been engraving full time since 1984.
He specializes in knives and pistols with native American designs as well as game animals with American scroll borders.
Sorry, the pictures didn't show up!

DakotaRanger,
Nothing wrong with engraving as long as it's done tastefully:
This entire pistol was built from a box-stock Series 70 Commander by Kent Singletary, the lead gunsmith for Robar. Unfortunately, Kent no longer does engraving.
Go to www.fega.com for the Firearms Engravers Guild web-site.
You may find someone local to you in your state you can work with.
A similar engraving job will run anywhere between $700.00-$2,000.00; so shop around.
