OK, we all know nothing is perfect. But lets try... What if you had a healthy budget to build a practical, user friendly working pistol. What platform would you start with? What changes would you make? What accessories, bolts ons or internal modifications would you go with?
Remember that this is to be a working gun. No bling and the only flash comes from the muzzle.
And those who have been around for a while will guess- This is the precursor to another Sixto Project. :scratchchin:

How concealable does it need to be? Pocket sized? IWB? OWB/duty gun?
The pistol in my avatar is the one which answers all the questions you asked, with a couple changes. I would recommend going with a compact version rather than the full-sized. I would also go with a rear-activated CT instead of the front-activated one pictured. Internally, a 3.5 connector and a bit of polishing are the only changes I made.
An M&P similarly-equipped would also be one I would be happy with.
I dunno, thats up to you. For me, I'd sacrifice a little conceal ability in favor of capacity and sight radius. In my mind, a full size or compact model is ideal. I'll leave the subcompacts alone when discussing a ultimate fighting pistol.Quote:

Compact, but not so compact as to prevent a solid grip for the average size hand.
Clean, not a lot of controls to hang up or sharp edges to rub.
Reliable, of course, meaning will feed FMJ and HP reliably--preferably right out of the box.
Decent sights. I'd like ones that are adjustable--but take something special to adjust, not ones that will work loose and be off.
Light weight but solid in the hand.
And not necessarily in that order.

I've long thought that a chopped Browning Hi-Power would be a great pistol. Double-stack, decent capacity, 9mm, something in the neighborhood of 6" OAL and ~4.7-5.0" height, ~20oz or so, with a smaller-circumference grip. With current materials (scandium, titanium, plastics) it could be a reasonably lightweight and durable model. I'd think it could be an excellent competitor to the Glock 19 and Glock 26 9mm pistols, with such features.
The Browning BDM 9mm had so much that was right, with a few strange features and horrible (AWB/1994) timing.

Take a baby Glock in your choice of caliber – it gives up little to its larger cousins, but gains in concealment. Get a Gen 4 if you like to complain about the Glock grip. :biggrin2:
Add a RDS, back up irons, and a CT Lasergrip (the rear activated ones do seem more positive compared to the front-activated ones). If you don't want to drop the money on a RDS, then TFO's would do nicely.
I like the GAP floorplate on the baby Glock magazines. Vickers mag release. Stock slide release, or the extended version if you really want one.
I’m happy with the stock Glock trigger – I would just leave it alone.
That’s it. Not sure what else you could want. Until a phaser becomes reality, that’s about as good as you are going to get.
The CZ 2075 RAMI is a great effort, yes. Though, at 6.5in, fairly full grip circumference and 26oz, it's not something that has leveraged modern materials very strongly. And the "compact" P-01/PCR variants of the 75-series are decent pistols with bomb-proof simplicity and reliability, but there too large to be justifiable for what current materials could allow. I'm betting something far more compact can be designed, yet still retain all the great features of the basic Hi-Power. CZ should be able to come up with something like this, you're right.Quote:

GLOCK 19 or if you want to get creative take a GLOCK 26 and shave off the sides until it is a single stack then use as a BUG.
As far as characteristics go:

2. Simplicity
3. Capacity
4. Concealability
My personal preference would be a SIG 229 Enhanced Elite platform. You can pick 9, 357, or 40.
But that's just me. I favor my SIGs.
