Keep the 2nd gen glock, an dplace a Pachmyer slipon if you're looking for finger grooves on the gun. Just my opinion ans the fact I have both 2nd and 3rd gen guns. If it's because you wich a rail, then I guess you should go to the 3rd gen.

    Update: I kept the 2nd gen Glock 19 and got a 3rd gen Glock 30 instead. Win-Win!

Keep the Gen 2. Mine has been going strong for two decades.

From someone who has had six third Gen 19s (great guns), two 4th Gen 19s (liked the smaller grip option, both were 100% reliable for me and continue to be for my friend who owns them now), and currently owns three Gen 2 19s (love the no finger groove option) and just picked up another 3rd Gen 19 that I am going to send to Bowie Tactical for some work next year (50th birthday present for myself) - I will say:

If no finger grooves is not your thing, sell the 2nd Gen (lots of people looking for them) and get the one that YOU like the most.

Life is short, why carry a gun that is not 100% to your liking?

    Good luck with your choice.

Sounds like a great way to go. I think you'll be very happy with the G30.

I carried a G30 for years, and it is a very good gun.

However, since it is roughly the same size as the G19, only thicker and carries less ammo, I sold mine and bought another 19.

If you feel the grip holding properties of your current generation is good, then go with the gen 3. The gen 4 has a heavier trigger, but better grip texture. Thats about it for changes between the 2.

The heavier feel of the Gen 4 is easily fixed by replacing the Gen 4 trigger bar with a non-bump Gen 3 trigger bar.
