Found this Python today

I was at a local FFL getting my 1911 today and found this Python behind the counter. Pretty good condition and shoots really well.

Just found out it was made in 1966 and the stocks are correct. Makes me feel good.

4" ! I have a 6" Python. Sorta wish it was a 4". Best shooting wheel gun I've ever shot!

Thanks for sharing. Back in the 80's I had a stainless 6 inch Python with Pachmeyer grips. What a beauty! Too bad I sold it in the 90's.

I've owned 3 in my life,2 4" blued that I paid around $350 used for them and a NIB 6" Stainless in 1984 for $671.00.. They are nice guns,but I wouldn't pay the premium prices they want today

Yea Pythons! Good for you! So nice that it's sporting its original stocks. The whole package as you show it in your photographs looks great!

Pythons are great for accuracy work at the range and still can serve well in several competitive events that could be mentioned. A 2 1/2-inch or a 4-inch Python works well for self-defense. I have a 6-inch blue Python from 1978 that sees regular range time and occasional field use in a holster. It's just a bit longish for practical concealed carry. I have come to the conclusion that the 4-inch Pythons are the very best looking, best balanced variant.

Don't fret about babying your Python with nothing but light loads. Mine handles full-bore .357 Magnum handloads, fueled with heavy charges of 2400 powder, with aplomb and has stayed in time to this point. I'm of the view that Pythons are much sturdier than the current internet rumors would indicate. Just keep them cleaned and lubricated.
