for holster carry, Bersa BP9CC 9mm.....smokes the other guns in the same category.
for pocket carry, Keltec PF-9 or Kahr CM9.
Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.

PM9 is my favorite single-stack pocket-9. I hear that CM9's are just about as good.

I bought that back before there was a Nano. I'd take a serious look at that as well now.

    Sontag,

How much are the Kimber Solos going for before taxes?

I just called a few more gunshops. No one has any and most shops have a waiting list of a lot of people (40+)

So what makes the Shield sooooooooooooo popular considering there are other alternatives such as what I have listed and what you all have suggested????

The one gunshop owner laughed when I asked if they have any and he stated that it is "THE BEST" concealed carry 9mm ever made. I talked about it as if it was made of gold.

Why not a Glock 26? While not a single stack, it meets your other criteria. It weighs the same (or less) than some of the single stack options out there while having more capacity. It will take your G19's magazines. Same manual of arms. And it is reliable as gravity. I would take one over any single stack 9 out there. Oh wait - I did.
The more good folks carry guns, the fewer shots the crazies can get off.

While yes same manual of arms, I like variety. Thats just me. Also weight imo is not as important as thickness. My heavy 1911 is more comfortable than my G19.

I know the LC9 is similar to the LCP but I have 2 of them (wife and I both have one). They have been absolutely flawless with no FTF, FTE, FT anything. Trigger is long and heavy but predictable. I have a Pachmyr grip and a N82 pro holster and it is my only CC which I trust completely.

    Ruger LC9 or Kel-Tec PF9.

I like them for when I need to stay concealed but not as a primary daily carry...

Bersa has a single stack 9mm that I'd like to try out. I can't really recommend it since I have no experience with it, but it is definitely on my radar.

    Joepa,
Don't forget about the Kahr CW9. IIRC, dimensionally, it's about 1/2" bigger in length and height compared to the CM9. The CW9 is usually about $30-40 less than the CM9. Having said that, I don't have either the CM9 or CW9, but I do have a Kel-Tec PF9 that's an active part of my cc rotation. Not everyone's had good experiences w/ the PF9, but I've been very happy w/ mine. One thing I like about the PF9 (and some of the others, but not all the single stack 9's), is the ability to comfortably carry it in the front pocket, when wearing the right pants. This works particularly good during the summer when I'm partial to wearing cargo shorts.

I should also add that I do have a CW45 that's also pleased me.

The Shield is also 'Glock-Like', so you'll be familiar with it in a pinch
    .
Except that the Shield has a external safety lever that the Glock doesn't have.
