Looking to buy a single stack 9mm. Which one should I get?

I am looking to buy a single stack 9mm. I have several handguns but I would like something a bit smaller than my Glock 19 but larger than my LCP and jframe. I also would like to keep the price down below $600

I am open to suggestions and if you could post some single stack porn, that would be appreciated :image035:

Here are the choices:
S&W M&P 9mm Shield (I can't find one anywhere so I may have to wait several months to find one)
Ruger LC9 $299 (Good price but do I want something that looks like my LCP, just bigger?)
Walther PPS $510
Kahr CM9 $389
Sig P290 $569
Sig P938 $589 (I like this A LOT but I don't know how it shoots and I heard that some owners were having feeding/extraction problems.)
Kimber Solo (Probably out of my price range)
Wait for the 9mm XDs if it ever comes out.
Diamond back DB9
Kel Tec PF9

Out of the choices that you listed I would go with the S&W.

The two Sig pistols won't make your price cap. Of those listed, the Shield is probably your best bet.

Or, you could look at the Kahr line. You might also consider the Beretta Nano.

I just noticed on your post, you have prices. Duh! If you can get that P938 for that price, go for it.

Thanks for the option. Around here they are less than $400 if you can find one.

Also I forgot t add to this list the Nano.
I can get the Nano for $419

I've had a few Kahr's, PM9 and MK9 varieties and now recommend the Shield if you are right handed. I find I get more shots on target with the Shield than the Kahr, especially that all important first shot.

The Shield is also 'Glock-Like', so you'll be familiar with it in a pinch.

I actually had a chance to play around with a Nano recently. The trigger is better than any of the Rugers I have shot. Just my opinion. I would still go for the Sig, though.

That price goes a very long way to explain why they are hard to find there.

I have a Kel-Tec PF-9 and a S&W Shield 40. The Shield is about to go in for repair because it came out of the box unseating the extended magazine when fired. Probably an isolated issue, and I'm not worried about it, but even if it functioned properly, the extra magazines are next to impossible to buy. I had no problem buying Kel-Tec PF-9 magazines from Kel-Tec's website. Additionally, a personal preference, I enjoy the DAO without a manual safety on the PF-9 over the strikerfire with manual safety on the Shield. The sights on the Shield are much better than the PF-9, but the PF-9 are acceptable for drawing and firing. The S&W Shield 40 was twice as much money than the Kel-Tec PF-9. I have no issues with carrying the PF-9, and it draws and fires very nicely. Both pistols fit in the same simple Uncle Mike's Inside-the-Pants holster aligned on the small of my back. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either. I have enjoyed the Kel-Tec so much, I have considered getting their P3AT .380 ACP to put in a pocket holster. I could buy the P3AT and the PF9 right now for the same price as a Shield if I hunt around for one; every elusive.

I second (or third?) the Nano. I have seen them online for less than $400.00. Mine was slightly higher than $400 locally.
