    I have over 4000 rounds out of my PPS 9mm and they have been flawless. It has eaten anything I have fed it. It is my EDC gun and its accuracy rivals my competition 9mm.

    I really like the feel of the PPS, and guys I know personally, whose opinions I trust, like theirs, which includes proven reliability over time. One of these friends is known as a been-there-done-that heavy-hitter in the training community. As for .40, however, no thanks! I have typed my reasons quite a few times on this forum recently, so will not repeat it all here, except to say that cumulative recoil, over time, has scrambled my formerly stronger wrist. Bullet technology has reached the point that I will, if given a choice, go with premium 9mm controlled-expansion JHP ammo, rather than the snappy .40 S&W. I say this as an early adopter of the .40; I really liked it, back in the day. To be clear, I am not saying .40, alone, wrecked my wrist, as I fired .44 and .41 Magnums quite a bit back in the 1980s.

    On the clock, I must carry a mandated .40 primary duty pistol. It has become a torture device. When I purchase a PPS, for back-up and off-the-clock carry, it will be a nine.

    The magazine dropping is something to consider, though. I thought the Shield would be perfect for me until I discovered that the problem was so common.

    On the topic of similar guns, here are the .40s I have seen which have similar dimensions to the Walther PPS:
    * S&W M&P Shield, as already mentioned
    * Bersa BP9cc
    * Sig Sauer P250
    * Springfield XDS
    * Numerous Kahrs
