    Range Report

Took a quick trip to the range yesterday with the Ultra CDP II. I hadn't been in a couple of weeks and wanted to cycle through some carry ammo. I fired 100 rounds of Winchester White Box USA 230gr FMJ, 65 rounds of Winchester Ranger SXT 230gr JHP, and (just for fun) 10 rounds of CCI shotshells.

I worked primarily on my draw technique, delivering 2 rounds to COM, moving laterally and delivering 2 more rounds to COM. The pistol, holster and ammunition performed brilliantly, and I did okay, too. My accuracy is good, still working to increase my speed. I had zero malfunctions. Even the shotshells cycled perfectly, so, if I ever have to face killer spiders, I'm good to go.

I'm starting to really get used to the Tucker Answer for IWB carry. Draw and reholster are quite smooth, and it's gotten a lot more comfortable. Mainly it's been a matter of getting settled on positioning. All in all, just a great afternoon, and a confirmation of my confidence in the Kimber!
    Cheers,

Hey,that's my gun!! My EDC is a UC CDPII but with VZ grip panels.

Thanx for the post. People ask me all the time if the shotshell loads will cycle a .45ACP. Always told them,"haven't a clue",til now. Good info. --------

Sounds like a most successful session. Nice set-up

I do similar but would suggest also - in case you don't do it. Make some draws and shoot one at least from retention - then ''unzipping'' into a normal stance to plant another one or two.

I have found that invaluable and still work on it - shots always tend left and trying to improve that.

That's a very good suggestion, Chris. I'm going to start incorporating that. One thing I've been doing is some single-handed (right & left) fire. The fire from retention is another piece to add to the process.
