I got a lot of practice doing mag changes... :biggrin2:
I'm torn on this topic as you say that you can't shoot both guns at the training class.. are you 100% sure about this? My training i've been able to shoot whatever handguns I brought. my EDC and my BUG. I say try to shoot both at the class.
1.) use your EDC for the parts that are most like outside the home shooting drills. (at distances, moving, laying down, etc)
2.) use the 1911 for room clearing/defensive positions in a closed environment
Train with your EDC (even if it isn't a GLOCK 19)! It is what will most likely be on hand when you have to use the training.
One student had a pistol go down hard - a 1911. I won't mention the brand. Don't need to derail the OP's thread further.
Bottom line is that the OP should take the pistol he actually carries (IMHO) and train with it. To say that he can't get good training while using a "mousegun" is just not true. I believe a certain trainer that you respect wrote about an airline pilot who took one of his courses with a PM9, because that was what he carried while in the cockpit. On this - I agree with him.
Your carry gum needs to be what you train with. I would switch my carry gun to my 1911 though!!
